Event recap: SRP 2017 Economic Forecast breakfast, Sept. 15, 2016
What’s in store for the economy in 2017? Eugene McQuade, former Citibank CEO, tried to answer that question at the 2017 SRP Economic Forecast Breakfast.
The 15th annual event, hosted by SRP and presented by the Phoenix Business Journal, attracted more than 600 business leaders from across the state to hear and talk about where the economy is headed in the coming year. Here are some highlights:
- Rate of growth is expected to flatten in the next few years.
- Inflation has remained low though it is expected to be close to the Federal Reserve’s target of 2% by the end of 2017.
- Interest rates will increase over the next few years but are expected to remain lower than pre-recession rates.
